Ahmed Ololade (born January 13, 1995) is a famous Nigerian musician who is known professionally as Asake. He is a singer and songwriter loved by millions of Afrobeats fans for his vocal prowess and catchy song phrases.

He broke out in the industry when he dropped the 2020 single, Lady. He rose to stardom after being signed to YBNL Records by the label boss, Olamide. Another song that increased his presence was Mr Money.

He released his debut EP, Ololade Asake, which was a commercial success internationally. He is one of the shining stars in the Street Pop and Afrofusion music scenes.

Asake early life
Asake was born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Ololade on the 13th of January in 1995. Days after he was born into the world, his parents organized a naming ceremony to celebrate his birth. He was given the name Ahmed Ololade.

He hails from the South West region of Nigeria and belongs to the Yoruba ethnic group. He was born and raised in the city of Lagos with his family. He comes from a Muslim household and was presented with the same faith. Growing up, his father worked as an entrepreneur while his mother was a teacher.
Asake began his journey into the artistic field as a dancer. As a young boy, he loved to dance and was very good at it. He specialized in cultural dance, spending his free hours practicing a dance to improve his skill. As a high school student, he performed at school events, thrilling his schoolmates and staff members with energetic cultural dances.

Some believe he get his stage name from dancing skills and some say he adopted the stage name Asake to honoured his mother

Asake is a great dancer, he also had a soft spot for music. Gifted with a sonorous voice, he often thrilled his close friends and classmates with originally composed songs and covers of popular songs.
He decided to infuse singing with his dancing because he wanted to be a better entertainer. On the side, he was also a drummer and a member of his school’s music band.

Asake spent most of his childhood in Lagos State,  Asake is in his 20s and still very much fresh in the Nigerian music scene.

He studied Theater & Performing arts at the esteemed Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he had his degree.

Asake Musical Career

Asake started his music career from childhood, he was always seen releasing series of freestyles across all his social media platforms.

Asake started making music professionally in 2015. Motivated by the success of music stars like Olamide, Davido, Wizkid, 9ice, and Wande Coal, he joined the Afrobeats music space, focusing on Afrofusion songs. He combined Hip Hop, Amapiano, R&B, and Fuji sound to create music that would distinguish him from other artists.

He started as a backup singer for popular Instagram Comedian Broda Shaggi, performing . He also collaborated with Broda Shaggi to release the single “Star” in 2019. The song did pretty well in the market and get him more recognition from music fans. He was inspired by the success of the first single “star’ and propelled him to released the single “Lady” in January 2020. The song went viral on social media because different influencers reposted the single on their pages and content creators used it as background music in their videos.

The success of Lady paved the way for Asake to drop the hit song, Mr Money, which was one of the trending singles of 2020. The song earned him a second nickname: Mr. Money.

In 2022, Asake dropped the single Omo Ope.

 

The song went viral on the internet. And this time around, it get the attention of rapper and Ybnl CEO, Olamide. Olamide fell in love with the song and decided to record his verse to the single. Shortly after, Olamide invited Asake for a meeting and offered to sign him to the YBNL record label. Asake took the offer and joined the YBNL family. He was unveiled YBNL‘s latest signee on the 8th of February 2022.

Thereafter, Asake released his debut EP, Ololade Asake. The music project is home to four hit tracks – Omo Ope, Sungba, Trabaye, and Baba God. He performed Baba God at a live session organized by Glitch Africa in February 2022.

He collaborated with Grammy Award winner Burna Boy to record the remix of Sungba. The song was released on the 28th of March 200 and has topped music charts for several weeks.

He appeared as a guest artist on DJ Spinall‘s song, Palazzo. The song was released on the 13th of May 2022. The visuals of the single were shot and directed by TG Omori.

On the 16th of June 2022, he dropped the chart-topping single, Peace Be Unto You (PBUY). The song received good ratings from critics and has amassed thousands of streams from fans.

Asake Personal Life

Asake resides in a well-furnished apartment building in Lekki, Lagos, and has exotic rides to his name. When he is not performing at shows or creating music, Asake unwinds by playing tennis, football, and snooker games. He also spends a good part of his day listening to songs by other artists.

The singer is currently single, and the details of his romantic life are unknown to the public. He loves being happy always, which helps him create good music. He also likes to travel to new places and network with new people.
